NZ: a wee Kinloch update

Just wrote a whole blog post and it disappeared.....arghhhhhhhhhhhhh. I wrote this one a while ago and never posted it so this is all you're going to get for today as I can't be bothered to re-write what I wrote...

I had a mini freak out a few days ago. I have been here nearly 3 weeks and was working in the cafe and it was really boring and I was thinking what the hell am I doing with my life...why am I working in a cafe for free. I think I was just having a panic as I had no plans beyond Kinloch woofing, no car and no real idea as to what to do.

Luckily I now have a plan!!!! Fingers crossed it works out as it relies on a few things but Anya, a lovely girl who is woofing with me, is also leaving the same day as me, has just bought a car, and is going the same way...so we have decided to combine forces and travel together. I AM SO EXCITED just to have a plan - even if it's only a 3 week plan, it's a plan with an intention and it means I will be back on the road again. I am definitely getting itchy feet and getting bored of the work I am doing here, most recently I have been switching between helping in the kitchen or in the shop.  I don't mind when it's busy but as we're coming into winter season it's been pretty dull of late.

Today it was so quiet in the kitchen that I deep cleaned the stove, the dishwasher and a cupboard that looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the dawn of time.  I still had another 2 hours to go before my hours were up so I cleaned all of the outdoor tables, then went to Toni's house, where I got given the amazing job of cleaning a carpet the cat had pissed on. The straggly stinky disgusting pet cat that I can't bring myself to love. I told Toni she should just get it put down, to which she hit me on the head and said 'you evil bird, it's good you're joking'.  If only she knew I wasn't....

I received my first NZ paycheck which was quite exciting - I get paid for any extra hours I do over my contracted 4, so trying to get all the extra hours I can get.  On the days there's none available then we have been going on some walks.  We did a nice easy one to Lake Sylvan the other day, a quick 1.5hour there and back through magical forest to a lake lookout.  We also did the Glenorchy Lagoon Walk which was really pretty, and a 4 hour return to Lake Rere. The lake itself wasn't that amazing but the walk was lovely - up and down enough to get the heart and legs going but not too exhausting.  The clocks have gone forward though so it got a lot darker faster that we expected and we ended up doing the last section of the walk in the darkness. Adventure!

Below are a load of photos in no particular order from the last few weeks.
